Break a world record...

We will be trying to break a world's record by participating in the largest simultaneous read aloud. One of our local libraries is going to sponsor this. Check out the link and see where you can participate or how to organize your own.

Who are you?

I just took this quiz and didn't know if Jane Eyre was one of the possible people that I could be, but I am not surprised that I got her. I read this book SO MANY TIMES as a teenager and I have always thought that Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester had the loveliest romance!

Which Classic Female Literary Character Are you?

You're Jane Eyre of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte!

Spanish only DVDs

New rule in the house:

From now on the only DVDs the kids are going to watch are in Spanish. We get them from the library and also play the Spanish tracks on our regular DVDs. We are working very hard to reinforce the language with the kids because outside of our house, they really don't hear the language or speak it with others. They don't watch much tv anyway, so when they are allowed to watch a DVD it's a big deal, and they are blissfully engaged for the duration. If they can do that and be working on their language acquisition simultaneously, it's what I call a win-win situation.

2 days down, 28 to go...

I have been rising to the NANOWRIMO challenge the last two mornings. I do not expect to meet the word challenge by the end of the month--I think it is 50,000 or some crazy number like that--but if I write each and day I will consider it a success.

I have my first reader for my novel. I awoke my 7 year old daughter this morning to invite her to the computer to read my secret novel blog. The main character in the book is a nearly 10 year old girl who likes to travel, have adventures and read, so I thought my bookworm might enjoy reading about her. So far I have my first rave review, and she can hardly wait to read more. I think that will be my primary incentive for continuing to write.
